The Evolution of the Economy of Hungary

Hungary economy is quite interesting to look into. This country does not boast of having a huge or a strong economy but still it has medium-sized economy which is quite capable of giving them the tag of a developed nation.

However in this article we shall look into the way in which the economy of Hungary evolved in a manner that completely changed its face.

Before the World War II

It would be quite interesting to note that Hungary economy was mainly dependent on agriculture until World War II. Now the period prior to World War II witnessed something called as the industrial revolution wherein most countries changed their main source of income from agriculture to industries.

However Hungary did not participate or in other words did not give too much importance to the industrial revolution. Another interesting thing to tell about the economy of Hungary before the World War II is that they never had the resources to be one of the top notch agricultural nations in the world.

Still somehow they managed to be on their toes and did what was possibly best for them, the labor force. Labor force in Hungary was quite large and this also helped the Hungarian economy in a great deal before the World War II.

Modern Day Hungary:

Right after the end of the World War II, Hungary realized its folly and started industrialization on a rapid scale. You won’t believe it that Hungary at present is one of the leading industry oriented nations in the entire world with most of the contribution towards its economy coming from the industrial sector. The industrial sector contributes about 61.1% to the country’s total GDP. This is quite strange in the fact that most other European countries have services as their main contributor in their GDP. Still it is a positive change of Hungary and we shall hope to see Hungary reach the realms in the near future.
